I'm a rock 'n' rock star: Russell Brand as British musician Aldous Snow in his new film Get Him To The Greek

We're not sure what the Americans made of him after he was introduced to the Hollywood jet set by pop star fiancee Katy Perry.

But if anything is going to to put Russell Brand firmly on the Tinsletown map, his new comedy might just do the trick.

The first trailer for the British comedian's new film Get Him To The Greek was released in the US today and it has already got cinemagoers on the other side of the Pond talking.

Scroll down to watch the trailer...

Superbad's Jonah Hill plays record company intern Aaron Greenberg who must get Snow from London to Los Angeles for a gig

The film is a spin-off from the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall and sees 34-year-old Brand reprising his role as English rock star Aldous Snow who has dramatically fallen off the wagon.

His co-star is Superbad star Jonah Hill who plays college graduate Aaron Greenberg who blags his way into a job as an intern at a record company and is sent to transport Snow from England to a concert at Los Angeles' Greek Theater.

Rapper and entrepreneur Sean 'Diddy' Combs stars as record company executive and Aaron's boss Sergio Roma

Along the way, Aaron encounters drug smugglers in London, fights and brawls in New York City and lap dances in Las Vegas and must navigate his way through all the drama to deliver Snow to his gig.

The film also stars rapper and businessman Sean 'Diddy' Combs as record company executive Sergio Roma, Irish actor and Star Trek: The Next Generation star Colm Meaney as Snow's father Jonathan and Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss also stars as Aaron's girlfriend Daphne

There are a number of cameos from many famous faces playing themselves including singers Pink, Christina Aguilera, Metallica's Lars Ulrich and Tom Felton, who is best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

But the most noticable cameo is from Katy Perry herself, who appeared as herself in the film over a year before she began dating Brand.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait and see the film to spot her brief appearance as she is not featured in the trailer.

During an interview with him on his former Talksport show, which he presented with former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher in September 2008, Brand admitted he tricked her into thinking the cameras were rolling.

He confssed that he told her a hidden camera crew were filming it when they weren't.
But Katy, who was still dating Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy at the time, confessed in a later interview that kissing her future fiance left her feeling very happy.

She said: 'My scene called for me to make out with him. And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I'm happy - I get a bit childlike.'

Get Him To The Greek is released on June4 in the US and on June 25 in the UK.
